Help Bring a Screening of the Play to Your Area

UN BECOMING by playwright Rick Schweikert and produced by the HERS Foundation premiered Off Broadway at the 45th Street Theater, and performances of the play were presented in 25 cities since its February 2004 New York premiere. In June 2005, HERS hired Eric Marciano and American Montage to videotape a live production of UN BECOMING.

Marciano says, "The facts presented in UN BECOMING are astounding." According to the National Centers for Disease Control, one out of every three American women is hysterectomized (uterus removed) before she reaches 60 years old, and 76% of those women will be castrated (ovaries removed) during the surgery. Of the more than 750,000 women counseled by HERS, 99.7% report being improperly if not totally uninformed of the alternatives and adverse effects. 98% of women counseled by HERS discovered they did not need the surgery.

UN BECOMING revolves around Emma Douglas. Sensual, smart and driven, painting is her life's breath, but a medical decision threatens everything. Directed by Jeffrey Edward Carpenter and Rick Schweikert. Cast: Laura Flanagan, David McCamish, Jeffrey Edward Carpenter, Benjamin James Moore, Anna Cody, Naomi Barr, Tami A. Dixon, Sage Fitzgerald.

"Every woman, man and child should see this play!" —Barbara Seaman, author of The Greatest Experiment Ever Performed On Women

"If you have a mother, sister, daughter, or female friend...UN BECOMING is vitally important." — Robert W. McDowell, Robert's Reviews
